Crocus 'Interloper' earning its keep.

Hellebore heaven despite the sleet. I didn't feel up to channelling my inner woodlouse this afternoon so I could appreciate the flowers in their full glory.
You often see men and women out on their own walking dogs, but why do I never meet other lone women taking their binoculars for a walk? Is it purely a safety issue? I know lots of other women who do walk alone, so why don't I ever see any?
Cadged a lift as far upstream as I got yesterday on the search for the source.
Top present. Now I can walk as far as I like and always have somewhere to sit when I need it
Stumbled over a long-billed dowitcher. Not sure the black-tailed godwit was as pleased to see it as we were!
Followed a 111-year-old map this afternoon to hunt down an ancient swallow-hole. Expected it to be long gone, but here it is, reflecting the sky the way it has, no doubt, for millennia. Gentle brook-trickle, modest pool, exhilarating find! Plus lapwings, hares & grey partridge.
