I’ve not come across them before (or atleast I’ve never noticed them!) so I’m very intrigued by why they’re considered a pest. What do they do? They’re so wonderful to look at.
Hi Jay, the adults and larvae eat the leaves of rosemary and other related plants like lavender, sage and thyme. In my garden we’ve never had too much of a problem, but they’ve been around here in Hertfordshire for about 10 years – at least that’s when I first saw one. I’m concerned this year that there are quite a few already and they’re making more beetles (!) so I might need to remove them this year…
They are SUCH a nuisance aren’t they? But yes so beautiful!
